History Page

Following is a list of every paper sculpture I have ever done, starting with the first one, "A Lighthouse", completed in July 1994.  Some of the listings below have a link to the page highlighting the piece.  Some of my original pieces are still available along with Limited Edition prints at my Ebay store.  If you don't want to go through Ebay, you can contact me directly.
 

  • 0001  Jul94  "A Lighthouse"  This was my first paper sculpture and included a sailboat.  I didn't care for the sailboat and the waves, so I took it apart and saved the lighthouse.  At this time, I'm still trying to locate the lighthouse.
  • 0002  Sep94  "Elton John"  When I met with the folks at the Baker Street Art Gallery in May 1995, this was the piece that sold them on showing my work.
  • 0003  Oct94  "Julia Roberts & Lyle Lovett"  Every Autumn leaf was individually airbrushed!
  • 0004  Nov94  "Eric Lindros"  Actually a large hockey trading card, the finished piece has a Flyer logo in one corner.
  • 0005  Dec94  "Precious Moments Christmas"
  • 0006  Dec94  "Morgan Rife"  This was the first time I tried embossing paper.  Now I make my own embossing templates for some projects. 
  • 0007  Feb95  "Red-Eyed Tree Frog"  This one is so small, it fits in a trading card case!
  • 0008  Mar95  "Swamp Thing"
  • 0009  Apr95  "Ronald Reagan"  This one was sold right after my first show.
  • 0010  Apr95  "Jack Nicholson & Oscar"
  • 0011  May95  "Sea Turtle"

  • 0014  Jul95  "Schwarzenegger in Action"  I used real .22 shell casings to come out of his paper guns.

  • 0017  Sep95  "The Rolling Stones and Friends"  My most ambitious piece up to this point.  It has the Stones onstage in color with an audience of famous musical types in white behind them.

  • 0021  Nov95  "Marilyn Monroe card holder"  A miniature version of Marilyn used to hold my business cards.

  • 0023  Dec95  "late night Leno"  The paper sculpture of Leno was completed in Nov94, but it sat in a box till the background was made and the whole business assembled in Dec95.

  • 0025  Dec95  "Unforgettable Nat King Cole"  This one was used as a logo on my web site for two years.
  • 0026  Dec95  "Michelle Pfieffer"  My first commissioned piece.

  • 0029  Jan96  "Tyler's Friends"  A gift to my son to go with the theme in his bedroom.
  • 0030  Jan96  "The Beatles"  This one showed just their faces.  One of these days, I want to do one of them onstage.
  • 0031  Jan96  "Screech Owl mini in blue"
  • 0032  Jan96  "Concrete & Butterfly"
  • 0033  Jan96  "Screech Owl mini in red"  A friend saw me working on the Screech Owl (#0031) and wanted one, so I made another with a few subtle changes.
  • 0034  Feb96  "Precious Moments Wedding Day"
  • 0035  Feb96  "Emperor Penguins"  Just a trio of penguins, but it inspired me to do a whole iceberg full of them.
  • 0036  Feb96  "Spock mini"  This was the first of six mini pieces.  They all measured 4"x6".

  • 0041  Mar96  "Too Late for Lunch"  I took a break after this one.  I got a little burned out from cranking out so much work preparing for my first show and then meeting the demand after the show was over.

  • 0043  Dec96  "Harry L. Kinsey in a Fishing Boat"  I did this one for my dad.  It was taken from an old photo of my grandfather fishing.
  • 0044  Dec96  "Jack Nicholson in The Shining"  A commissioned piece.
  • 0045  Feb97  "Nat King Cole"  This is a smaller version of "Unforgettable Nat King Cole" (#0025) which was created to use as a promotional piece.  I have since given it to a friend.
  • 0046  May97  "The Marx Brothers"  Another commissioned piece.
  • 0047  Jul97  "Al Pacino bust"  Al Pacino, and, my next piece, Robert DeNiro, was a set of commissioned paper sculptures.

  • 0049  Aug97  "Self Portrait"  Check out the About the Artist page to see what I thought I looked like.
  • 0050  Sep97  "Young Elvis"  This was taken directly from a photo of Elvis on an old 45 record sleeve.

  • 0066  May98  "Love Bugs - You Stand Out from the Crowd"  Another first of a three-part series.  This series was created with the idea that they could be used as illustrations for greeting cards.

  • 0069  Jul98  "Special Delivery - Tyler"  This was the first of several Baby Announcement paper sculptures.  The blanket, hair color, and lettering were made to order.

  • 0077  May00  "Elton John II"  Similar to the first one I did in '94, only smaller.  I use this as a promotional piece also.

  • 0080  Jul00  "The Great Wall of Chaplin"  The brick background behind Charlie Chaplin was a big task, prompting the "Great Wall" part of the title.

  • 0082  Feb01  "Rain Forest of Costa Rica"  This is, without a doubt, my most ambitious piece to date.
  • 0083  Mar01  "Bill Clinton fixes Mount Rushmore"  A little Bill Clinton adds his face to a famous monument.
  • 0084  Mar01  "Marilyn Monroe Postage Stamp"  The entire piece, including mat is 7"x7", but the caricature of Marilyn is only 2"x1½".
  • 0085  May01  "Clownfish"  I did this one long before Little Nemo became a big star.
  • 0086  May01  "Ladybugs"  This one is unique in that it has glass in the front and back of the piece allowing one to see through it.

  • 0088  May01  "Red-Eyed Tree Frogs"  The piece is similar to the tree frogs I did on the rainforest project.

  • 0102  Sep01 "Jurassic Blocks"  The first digital paper sculpture made from paper lego-type blocks.  The blocks were scanned into my computer and cloned into hundreds of blocks which were then digitally assembled to create the T-rex.

  • 0108  Jan02  "Lady Liberty"  This one was rattling around in my head for a few years before I finally got around to doing it.
  • 0109  Jan02  "A Frog on my Thumb"  This is the start of a more defined direction for me.  Much of my work for the foreseeable future will be children's illustrations.
  • 0110  Jan02  "Penguins"  Another children's illustration.
  • 0111  Feb02  "Top of the Key"  Illustration and logo work for a producer of sports apparel.
  • 0112  Feb02  "A Frog on my Thumb - Take 2"  An improvement on the original above.
  • 0113  Feb02  "John Goodman as Fred Flintstone"
  • 0114  Mar02  "Peepers"  An animated paper sculpture.
  • 0115  Mar02  "Spiderman"
  • 0116  Apr02  "The Rolling Stones"  A new Stones caricature similar to the original I did in '95.
  • 0117  May02  "Al Pacino as Scarface"  A caricaturized version of the "Scarface" movie poster.
  • 0118  Jun02  "Animal Crackers"  The real animal crackers have been around for 100 years!   Here is my version.
  • 0119  Jun02  "Confused Chameleon"
  • 0120  Jun02  "Jonah and the Whale"  Jonah lands himself a whale of a fish.
  • 0121  Jul02  "T-Bone"  Caricature work for a local blues musician.
  • 0122  Jul02  "Cutter"  I've always wanted some type of mascot or logo.  This character is featured on the backs of my postcards.
  • 0123  Aug02  "Patriotic Ronald Reagan"  A brand new version of the 40th President.  Also included on this page are two earlier caricatures I did of the president.
  • 0124  Sep02  "Mystic Tree Storyboards"  This is the first group of storyboards for a proposed children's picture book I'm working on.  I've finished rough sketches of every page.  The next step is the creation of simple paper art to use as storyboards for the dummy book.  This is the first group of storyboard art.
  • 0125  Sep02  "Mystic Tree Petroglyphs"  I plan on using these illustrations at the bottom of all the text pages of my children's book.
  • 0126  Oct02  "Mystic Tree Storyboards"  The second group consisting of 9 storyboards.
  • 0127  Nov02  "Mystic Tree Storyboards"  The third group consisting of 8 storyboards.
  • 0128  Dec02  "Mystic Tree Storyboards"  The forth group consisting of 5 storyboards.
  • 0129  Jan03  "Asleep on My Tree"  This is the first piece of finished artwork for my children's book proposal.
  • 0130  Feb03  "Riding the Great White Buffalo"  I incorporated paper pulp into this piece.
  • 0131  Mar03  "Stephen and the Shaman"

  • 0133  Jul03  "Caveman"  This piece of artwork includes cave paintings which can be downloaded as wallpaper for your computer.

  • 0136  Oct03  "Waiting on a Friend"  My definitive Rolling Stones caricature piece featuring a wall mural of their blues influences.
