Samurai Shield Bugs ![]() Samurai Shield Bugs Facts:
The scientific name of this bug is Catacanthus, but there is no official common name for those of us who like to use simpler terms. I’ve seen it referred to as a “man-faced bug” or a “samurai beetle”. I like the samurai part, but this is not a beetle. It is a type of shield bug (also known as a “stink bug”). So, I’ve settled on Samurai Shield Bug. In the unlikely event you didn’t notice, if you look at the bug upside down, it appears to be a face or maybe a tribal mask. How cool is that?
