Shine!
Concept:
I
started with a simple idea of birds perched on a wire, but it evolved into much
more. After my initial idea, the thought occurred to me that one bird
should be different from the others. This would cause the other birds to
focus their attention on the distinctive bird.
When I finished this piece, it was not what I had envisioned. The sky was
too drab and my birds blended into it. I thought of painting the sky on a
piece of glass to allow light to pass through. I painted several sky
backgrounds using glass frosting with several different kinds of paint.
It was still missing something, so I added branches and the scarab beetle.
Now it looks how I thought it might look when I first envisioned the idea.
